difference between blue plug and black on HDI for carbon

Thinking of swapping my 3N1 for an HDI on my troller as I don't find the side scan of much help and wondering what the difference is between the blue plug and black on the transducer for use on a carbon will either one work???

The black is a Xsonic transducer (9pins) and the blue is a 7 pins. The black goes to the ch2 (black connector) and the blue goes in ch1 (blue connector)
