    Loomis GLX for skipping?

Thoughts on this model for skipping jigs?

    Loomis GLX
    MBR 844C
    7' H
    Fast

And an alternative if this isn't a good fit. Alternative does not have to be a Loomis

When people ask about a high end jig skipping rod, the first thing that comes to my mind is the Megabass JDM P5 Super Destroyer. It's easily one of the best jig skipping rods I've put in my hands. It loads up smoothly, has excellent power, outstanding sensitivity, and it's absolutely beautiful to look at too which doesn't hurt!

I had the older version GLX 844c MBR and it was a capable rod for skipping jigs, not ideal, but definitely capable. I have not fished the current generation model however.

Thanks Gary. What would you recommend for a mid-tier rod?

You're welcome! There are several very good options out there these days. If you wanted to stay in the Megabass line up, the XX Tour Versatile does a great job skipping 1/2 oz jigs but is often overshadowed by the Perfect Pitch. If you are skipping a lot more 3/8 oz stuff, the Daiwa Kage 71MXB is another sleeper rod.

GLX 853/854 depending on jig size is great as well. I’m curious why I don’t ever see any love for the 804?
