    my DAD

would have been 72 yrs old today.
He left this World barely 39 yrs young. Seemed very unfair at the time and I'd be lyin if I said I did not still feel that way. I sure wish my Son could have known him. Dad never met a stranger and I've never heard an unkind word about him.

Dad was a long time coach and the Director of our Youth Football League. A few years after his death they built a new field and named it after him. The teams are still playing Youth football at Jerry Teegarden Memorial Field.
I watched him take his last breath on Jan 15, 1978, fifteen days after my 16th birthday.
Ironically, that was also Superbowl Sunday.

Something else kind of ironic, those of you that met GB(George) know that I think alot of him and he has become a very good friend and a man I respect a great deal.
GB's birthday is also today. He is 66.

Corky, I know that it still hurts, I lost my mom about 35 years ago and my dad 2 1/2 years ago. Not a day goes by that I don`t think about them. The trip to Tbend was very special for me because we would go down there for a month fishing in the mid 70`s. Brought back lots of memories . I`m glad you and GB had each other

To your dad. Must have been one fine man. You don't get a youth sports field named after you for nothing. Be proud Troy Teegarden.

    Re: my DAD (WB)

The loss of a parent never goes away, especially when it happens too soon. I still have moments when I think, "Wish Dad could have seen that."

Did you ever stop to think....and forget to start again?

Here's to your Dad, Corky. We seem to take parents for granted until it's too late. I've been lucky since I still have mine, but I don't go see them nearly often enough. Thanks for the reminder.

You have to be a seriously outstanding individual to get a field named for you, far above the guy who gives the league all he has.
