    HDS 9 Transducer

Finally upgrading my Hook 7 to a HDS 9 live. Anyone have any experience with the placing of the 3-n-1 transducer for best results? My Triton 18 TX does have the welded pieces under the rear transom area. The Hook 7 picks up a signal up to 18-20 MPH before losing it. I would like to improve that if possible. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Since no one has replied to you, I'll throw my two pennies in. I'm pretty new to this as well, but after much research, here is what I have learned. The first recommendation is get a transducer mounting plate. There are several options, including diy. I'm using one that comes with high strength adhesive on it. Second, any transducer should be minimum 15" from the prop to the starboard side. The bottom of the transducer should protrude 1/32 to 1/16 inch below the bottom of the boat. This allows you to get readings when on plane. Hope this helps.
