    Depth Finders

Ok fellas, I wanted to pick your brains a little. I have (2) Eagle 320 depth finders and one of them has stopped working. I am wanting to replace the unit at the console with something that has the following capabilities:

Can adapt with my shoot thru hull transducer
    color image
    side image if possible
    very inexpensive

Is there such a unit out there with these items????????

    Thanks,

HummingBird.....798si.....sure Fun 'n' Sun can give you a good deal being pro-staff with them.....

    -or-

Lowarance HDS-5 or 7...you can download and upgrade the down scan and Side imaging to it as well or but the software for it.....

    good luck

    Re: Depth Finders (Stratos201Mike)

I will call and ask Jeff to see what kind of discount I can get on one. Is this unit compatable with the lowrance transducer? Is the unit easy to use so any technology depleted person like me can use it?

    Thanks for the reply

The only thing compatible with that transducer in your boat would be another Eagle, I believe. If you want side scan and/or downscan capability you will have to start from scratch and it will NOT be cheap. If you want cheap go to Eagle's website and look for a color unit that uses the same transducer that your current unit uses, it is possible that you can buy an Eagle color head unit and be done. If you want side scan in increments, I think you can buy a head unit that will handle it and add the expensive sidescan transducer later, but those head units are not what I would call cheap.

No such units out there matching your 4 item requirements, especially the "very inexpensive" requirement.
You can go with a inexpensive color unit like Eagle, but I'm betting you will still have to change out the transducer.

Kinda like Ron said, you'll have to go with an entire new setup for something with Downscan or Side Imaging......And there's nothing cheap either......

Wow, that's gonna be super nice. Do you have any idea if they are worth a flip around grass? All our lakes over here are grass lakes and I've yet to talk to anyone who knows.

They work very well around all structure.......

Chance this is too easy again, my bad.......you need one that tells you what color n what lure to throw and then you'll catch something.....

Do a search on Google and get the best prices. I found mine that way and cheaper than Ebay.

    Re: Depth Finders (Rangerman225)

    OK guys,

I bit the bullet and ordered the Lowrance Elite-5 color GPS/Depthfinder. I was able to get it at dealer cost because the LMS 480 was not available any longer. Anyone have input on this unit? I am going to use it at the console and put the working Eagle unit at the bow.
