    2008 285xl fuel pickup

About a year ago I was working on my boat because of what I believed had fuel delivery issues. When I tried to remove the fuel pickup tube out of the tank it came just about all the way out except for the very end of where the it would sit towards the bottom of the gas tank. Not wanting to break anything I left it alone. You should be able to remove the fuel pickup line all the way out, right?? What would cause it not to fully come out?

I removed mine from my 2004 Stratos. The end of the pickup tube had a metal strainer attached. If yours has one it could be damaged and not allowing removal.

That what I’m thinking because I tried removing the pick up tube and it came all the way out except for the very end of it. I didn’t want to try and force it out so I left it be but I think that is the culprit of my issue. Wondering how to attack this, thinking I might have to take out the sending unit. If I cut it off at the end of the pick up tube I wonder if it will sink to the bottom or float.
