Takes a lot of innovation to make a 17 or 18' boat silent and poleable in 5-6" of water and also be able to run across the bay to get to the flat. My hull weighs 540 lbs on my 18' boat.

It's only money. I fish a 300 acre lake here in Michigan. A guy has one like this on a hoist. 2--450R Mercs. Neighbor said he runs wide open up and down the lake to piss everyone off.

If it makes anyone feel better I watched a brand new 32’ Bennington with a 400 Verado smoke a mid-lake shallow boulder pile last weekend.

The half dozen or so millennials aboard all did the “lean over and look” move at the stern while the driver trimmed up. I was laughing my ass off; my wife was a little more compassionate.

To answer the OP I still think bass boats are expensive. Probably because I’m poor.
