Guess I missed that the dock owner was arrested

I think I remember reading about this incident but I just realized today that he was arrested. Hard to argue with video proof.

Good for them to turn him in and better for the state to follow through with the law.

I just think it's insane to own public lake property, and think it is your right to keep out anglers from fishing in front of your property. The entitlement some have is beyond my comprehension.

Every year when I go to Canada there is alway one owner who just insists that I should respect their property. I always politely remind them that their property ends with the water. Most owners love to talk to me, and let me know what type of fish they see in and around their docks. It's just that small percentage of entitled a**holes.

Have seen some of the marinas around here put chicken wire and rope around the bottom of their docks that keep anyone from being able to fish under them. One guy calls the cops and tells them that fishermen are hitting the boats with the lure and the cop tells him that he has to see them do that in order to do anything.

The guy ought to be charged with assault and battery. Totin' a firearm into such a situation is an implied threat with lethal force.

He really needs to be smacked down by the law.

He gives gun owners a bad name. No one in their right mind thinks flashing a gun over something so petty is OK.

Never thought I'd feel safer in the big Cities than fishing a dock in the Poconos

I'm glad he was arrested. There was no reason for him to act like that.

I would be willing to bet some of the people who raise a fuss come from a family that had land taken when the lake was impounded. Some residents of the state of Maine were making a push to return the off limits back to the area that was high and dry prior to placement of a dam. For example if the original high water mark was 50 feet out then they wanted that 50 feet to be off limits as private land.

One of the lakes the club used to fish in Maine there was clearly an area where a cattle farmer lost acreage. His fence line is in the lake. Lot of the small lakes in Ct were impounded private property. The old stone walls run all over.

I’m willing to bet that the people fussing didn’t have anything to do with family that owned land before the lakes were impounded. Probably less than 1 percent.

So they want public waters to become pretty much private lakes?

Nah that’s not the case at all. People become entitled and truly think the area around their dock is their property. It’s really not a stretch when you think about it.

What do you mean by "land taken"? Did they not get paid or compensated for it?
