    Big bass tourney strategy help.

Fishing a big bass tourney here in MS and am new to that tournament format. I know you guys in TX have quite a few big bass tournaments there. I have fished plenty of regular tourneys. It is a team event and you can have 2 fish in boat at any time. You and your partner can both weigh in a fish at each hourly weigh in. Any suggestions as far as strategy other than the obvious catch the biggest fish?

Go to another lake and have a good day fishing with your good ole buddy and enjoy it. Just me personaly. The biggest downfall I'm my opinion on the BBT is that it brings every Joe Dirt Diggler out to the lake that day n makes it very unsafe for the day at times. You'll have alot off cuttin people off n some rude ass guys out there that day. I've fished a few n probaly never will again but that's just me.

As far as a plan, whenever you n your partner got the bigger fish for that hour gonweigh them. Also what I have done is usually waited a few hours to go wegh anything and maybe go by to where you can see or hear the weights n let that be an ideal of the size of fish you need. Or go weigh what you have n take a look as well n that will give you a good ideal as well as for what you'll need.

Good luck have fun be safe n let us know bow it turns out

Go for the hourly money and if you get lucky and catch the big fish then it's all good. Here, some of the big tourny's are hosted by radio stations. Make sure you have a radio in the boat so you can monitor the hourly updates as to what has been brought to the scales each hour. Catch a 5#er, put her in the well and wait for a good time to make the run. If she won't win you money that hour wait for the next. Good Luck!!

If you catch the first fish give your partner a chance to get one in the boat or other way around. In the Skeeter tourney (and others I fish) I will listen closely to the weights and almost never weigh before the second or third hour. In the case Skeeter tourney case I think I weighed the largest under slot fish for the day so it would not have made much difference in the hold thing. Just remember when you go to weigh in you or your partner is not getting in their fishing time if both of you didn't go to weigh. This was the case with my partner, I gave him two hours to catch a fish and when he didn't I went to weigh. This ended the fishing for the day.

Thanks for the suggestions. Ended up tying for 3rd in last hour of tourney weigh in. Had a good time. It was cool to have a change of pace.
