Hey, fellas...coming to Choke this week...any tips?

Headed to Choke Canyon on Friday. I have never even seen this lake, so I would appreciate some tips. Looks like it might be a bit windy according the the weatherman...

Yup. Never fails. I have been to Fork a number of times, and it seems it was bad weather every time...

start out at the telephone pole and work every little point all the way down on the right hand side. Cranks cranks and more cranks int 2-7 foot of water. Bump em into the grass and let up....fish on.

if its post spawn, which im sure it is, id fish the 4 fingers area and hit all of the points and the islands in 10 - 15' of water. Early and late, fish the grass lines with a giant plastic.

You might check the fishing reports, believe the recent heavy rains have risen the lake considerably within the past week, you might will find the water really stained or muddy.

Water was VERY stained up to mid-lake. Had a foot of rain during the three days we were there. Lake came up 3 feet...

Still caught over 150 bass during 2 and a half days. Lots of little buck bass. My buddy got one big bite on a Carolina rig and broke off a 10+ right at the boat. Best we can figure is she got his 65 lb. braid wrapped around the big motor prop...

Caught most of our fish ripping cranks through the top of the hydrilla.

    Thanks for all the help!

Saturday morning we could not get out of the park due to water over the highway...

Choke Canyon State park on Saturday 4/17. They had 7 inches of rain at the park on Friday, and another big storm came through early Saturday morning.

Our local club fished choke last week. one 9lber caught and Jimmy Johnson fishing south texas 5 caught an 11 lber but didn't get big bass due to a 12 lber being caught. I had lots of small fish but no HAWGS Still came in second for our little club.
