    cold starting help

I am new to OMC motors, i have a 1989 150xp that is hard to start cold. Is there a fast idle on the concealed side mount control box?? My starting process; pump up primer ball, push and hold key 6-8 seconds and turn key. motor run for a few seconds and dies, ran through this for about 10 minutes. carbs had just been rebuilt????? thanks.

Yes there is pull the handle out towards you and then move the throttle forward slightly. If you remove the cowl and look at the center carb you will see a half moon plate. It has two raised marks on it. If you then move your throttle handle forward so the throttle roller is touching the second mark that is your fast idle spot. Make sure the motor is level to slightly trimmed in.
