    San Antonio……

Headed there for a few days in mid-February to pick up a puppy.

Also taking a detour to visit the better-half’s alma mater - TAMU.

Any hotel recommendations on the River Walk?

Was looking into the Omni and one other that I can’t recall.

It’s a little away from the river walk but in 2016 a couple of us stayed at the La Cantera resort in San Antonio. The nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed at in my life stateside. The rooms were amazing. I stayed in one overlooking the Emily’s rose courtyard

I almost hate to tell you this but it’s better to take EVERYTHING out of your truck and leave the doors unlocked

We just got back from a trip there for my wife's birthday and new years. We stayed at the Drury Inn & Suites San Antonio Riverwalk and enjoyed our stay. Had a decent free breakfast in the morning and happy hour every evening. Was also on the riverwalk but not too busy.

Been several years but the La Quinta Inn is within walking distance of the Alamo and Riverwalk.

I’ve stayed at the Hyatt Regency on the Riverwalk a couple times for work and it was nice. Also if I remember close to the Alamo as well.

I remember getting off the Bus near the Alamo from Lackland and the wino's handing out flyer's to the strip clubs and the little kid's tugging on you to go "meet my sister". This was the early 70's.

We like the Drury Inn and get a balcony room facing San Fernando cathedral. Nice view.

    Appreciate the responses.

I may have to figure a few things out as we may have a few scatter pew pews with us.

Looking like we may be doing some Quail hunting too, behind some of the breeders dogs. Including our pups momma. The lineage is incredible on these dogs and this pup is going to be my main hunt test dog and breeder.

Public (Wildlife Management Area) or private (Joshua Creek, etc.)? Pointers or Setters? Over 40 years ago, my family bred AKC registered German Shorthair Pointers. I recall one amazing sire: Blitzkrieg Von Steuben - a national dual field and show champion…

What breed are you coming to get? We run Vizslas and live 30 minutes north of San Antonio.

JW Marriott Hill Country Hotel has 2 pga golf courses and plenty of room to run dogs.
But it is not near the Riverwalk.

Coming down to pick up a real nice GSP.

If everything works out, she is going to be run and tested in AKC Hunt Tests, NAVHDA and NSTRA. I also plan on breeding her on down the road. That is if she gets all the titles I’m hoping for and the hips and everything else checks out. I am also getting a really nice male late summer from someone I know really well and that dog’s lineage is just ridiculous (Hill Haven, Odessey lines, 3 and 4 time NSTRA champions, AKC Master Hunters, etc. And those are just the sire and dame).

With the better half coming along and wanting to visit A&M, we may also start looking around for a potential move. She’d love to go back. As an avid upland hunter though, I’ll have to really see what is around the area. Along with employment opportunities.

Sounds like a couple of great dogs! My bird hunting days are over, but it sure is a lot of fun.

Grew up hunting Bob Whites & Blues with Pointers and Setters all over South and Central Texas; however, free range pheasant hunting with flushing Labs up north (SW Minnesota) became my passion much later in life. Goose and duck hunting following as a close second - particularly with retrievers…
