    Spot Lock disengaging: different cause

Recently installed a Dura Safe Ultrex trolling motor lock in addition to a Bob's Machine Quick Slip which had been installed years ago.
Spot Lock started disengaging very shortly after working properly. Finally found the issue was that the two above products(both are excellent and very well made devices) when installed together on the ultrex impede the rotation of the shaft of the trolling motor. When this occurs, the "spot lock" mechanism would sense the resistance and disengage. This resistance was not noticeable when using the pedal manually. Solution: the plastic collar on the Quick Slip was cut in half and reinstalled allowing the shaft of the Ultrex to rotate freely without obstruction.

I experienced the same issue several years back. I discussed the issue with both manufacturers at the time, ultimately I did the same thing as you described, however I seem to recall I also had to add threads to the Quick Slip bolt.

It was close, as far as having
to add threads to the Quick Slip Bolt.
I was barely able to get by without having to do that.
