    Is there tilapia in Amisad?

Looking to buy some swimbaits and was wondering if there were Tilapia in Amistad or just shad?

Well both have a lot of different applications and I usually have both tied on. For soft baits I would look at the sexy minnow in "Amistad Special" color from xcite baits (xcitebaits.com). It is one I developed just for Amistad and was catching 100+ fish a day on it in April/May last year. It is a color pattern that works very well when the sunfish are on beds (has chart back that is hard to see in the pics). I also use a lot of 3:16 baits for bigger soft baits.

In hard baits I mainly throw Jackall Mikey, TT, Spros, etc. Some are trout colored and some custom painted bluegill, sunfish, or tilapia.

There will be some swimbait fish the first week of march. You will get some cruisers escpecially in the bigger creeks. Give me a shout when you get down I will be fishing heavy the next several weeks and can get you some updated info and some areas to start in.

    JR,
Do you also do a lot of fishing/guiding on Falcon? A handful of us from my club are coming down March 6th, and are trying to investigate the things that are working the best. We have thought about hiring a guide, too. Would you have any interest?

Shoot me an email or cal and I can get you some updated info. I dont have any openings between tourneys and guiding until on into May. I dont mind helping you out getting started on either lake. Thanks, JR
