    Water in Lower Unit...Repair Done!

Finished the job on my lower unit last night...Replaced the 2 orings on the shift shaft...The 2 seals on the driveshaft and the water pump impeller (for the heck of it while I was in there) and new lower unit oil (without water in it ). Ran on the hosepipe and everything seemed ok w/no water in the lower unit, but I really wont be able to tell until I run it this afternoon. The only thing that bothered me was a little water seeping between where the lower unit meets the midsection. I guess that couuld be normal, or no big deal. Thanks all for the help...It was really an easy job!

I just did the same thing, only with the muffs on, there is a good bit of water between the LU and the midsection, is that NOT normal?

Thats good to know. I will update you guys after I go to the lake this afternoon. I really don't see how it could have been anything else or I would have had an oil leak from elsewhere. From what I could tell it must have been the shift shaft orings . there was no evidence from the water pump housing or drive shaft seals of any kind of oil leakage.
