The Mexican Border?

My wife just informed me that it was too dangerous with the whole Mexican Border thing going on, is it safe around Del Rio or are the natives getting restless?

    Re: The Mexican Border? (Triton-T)

    Tim,

I believe that is closer to Falcon and the drug lords struggle there. I was at Amistad over spring break with my son and we fished three days in Caballeo (sp?). I had no problem with taking my 9 yr old over to the Mexico side.

The only problem would be if you were way up some of those canyons and you had boat trouble, not much traffic up there to help you out.

It is very dangerous stay away from Lake Amistad and tell everyone else to stay away to I go down there from time to time and I'll be sure to let you know when it's safe again Never mind I can't keep a streight face on this one, it's as safe there as anywhere else. Lot's of people go to and from there and don't here any complaint's.

    Re: The Mexican Border? (Triton-T)

I have never heard of anyone having trouble on the lake...

I still do not let myself get in a spot where I can't see what is coming at me on the water or on land when fishing the smaller cuts on the mexican side.

As for crossing the border........be for-warned -----------I have had 2 different, very close fishing palls, who have lived there for years....Tell me stay out if you must go, take someone who speaks the lingo and be dam carefull

If you are active duty I heard that Acunua is off limits for military right now. You might want to check with the base. That takes out about 4 or 5 nice places to eat.

I was down with my 13 year old for the 4th of July and it was the sam ole Del Rio I used to know 15 yrs ago.......only a bit bigger. Have fun
