1996 Ocean Pros Evinrudes 150s. Here is my problem. The starboard side wont turn over. I have changed the starter with a good one, checked the old one it was fine. its almost as if it is wired backwards. I can hear the motor turn but the worm gear is not coming up to the flywheel.
You will need to remove the flywheel cover to correct your issue as on the 150/175's the starter comes up through the bottom and into a reduction gear that engages into the flywheel. More than likely you will need a new pinion and shaft assembly part number 434517. As long as you are sure the motors spin than that is most likely the culprit.
Or it could be a weak battery?
