    Waccamaw River

Well I think I have solved my storage problem with some help. I contacted the Bucksport Marina and the gentleman there told me i could store my boat there for 30 bucks for the week on the trailer or 50 to leave it in the water. Can't beat that. Aprriciate the offers and help but this will save me tons of gas money and drive time and even better yet it's 28-30 miles from where we are staying so mor fishing time.

So now the all important question. Does anyone have any advice for fishing the river. From the reading I've done it doesn't seem to yield the big ones like murray and others but you have to realize we are used to fishing eight hours in a tourney for 6 keepers 12 inches long, and that a team tourney. A 2 and 1/2 pounder is a kicker for here. Getting six keepers here finishes you in the top tier normally.

Anyone have any running advice, spot advice, lure advice for the bucksport area? The trip is at the end of July, I know its gonna be hot and probably not the best time but it'll have to do.

    Thanks
    Matt

All you normal summertime early morning stuff will work. Get there as early as possible. Usually once sun's up you'll be switching over to worms. Around 11am things typically die til later that afternoon. The exception will be in shady areas, especially if you can find a long stretch that stays shady most of the day.

Don't let the ramp at Bucksport scare you .... it's a unique experience . It's been 8yrs since I've been down there last, and I'm assuming the ramp's not changed. Basically it was as expanded metal ramp off the top of a seawall down into the water. But it was good, h3ll, everybody used that place back then.

    205,
I fish Waccamaw year round. If you are going to be there in July, it's going to be HOT. You will also be fishing tidal water.......makes a huge difference. Falling tide and mabe the first hour of rising tide will be the time to fish.
Also, after 10:00am.....lots of boat traffic ......Intercoastal Waterway. But there are lots of small creeks off the main river that will hold lots of fish. Any small creek mouth with running water: FISH IT HARD.
Early morning: Topwater....Bang-O-lure ( Silver/Black), Buzzbait( White or Char.), Popper ( Silver).
Later in the day: Worms and Lizards around the cypress trees and the creek mouths.

All Day: White Floating Worm!!!! On top or sinking slowly!!!

Couple of miles down from Bucksport is Big Bull Creek...this will take you to Big Pee Dee River. If the water is right, Big Pee Dee is where you want to be!!!

    Have fun and fish hard!!!!

    Re: Waccamaw River (duckfrye)

Thanks for the input and direction. I can't wait to fish it, it's definetly going to be different for us. Tidal and all. We fish hard here for 6 bites a day so fishing hard is our everyday thing.
