    Need to rebuild my 200

Jut got word my 1996 200 Johnson LE lost the #2 cylinder. Without having my mechanic take the engine apart, just removed the head he believes the pin that keeps the rings from rotating let go scoring the cylinder. My question would be replace or rebuild the motor and approximate cost? I do not have the motor serial or model numbers with me but will post them later.

You have a couple options, first would be to bore that cylinder out .030 and go with an over size piston. Or you could sleeve it to original size and replace that piston set. Either way the motor has to get pulled down and taken to a machine shop. When you get the motor back you'll want to change the #2 carb high speed jet with one .002 larger and change out your carb drain plugs on all 6. With gaskets and everything depending on who does the job anywhere from $1,600-$2,000. Now if you want to re-ring everything and put in new connecting rod bearings add about $500-600 to the price.
