    My River Boat...

Well, My river boat is starting to come together...
    Got the Boat ( aluminum, 16' modified V, alumacraft 1648 ) trailer
( galvanized Loadrite ) and Motor ( mercury 15 HP ). The last major thing I need is a Trolling motor. I am going with a 24V as the currents will be to much for a 12V all day. Probably a Bow mount Hand control over foot control ? ? ? ? ?
Going to use the pedestals and seats from the Triton and switch & forth. Will put the Lowrance 27C on wilth a RAM mount ( I'll have a seperate power cable and Transducer installed so I can switch back & forth). I have 4 AWG wiring, 2 - 12V batteries for the T/M and a small 12V dedicated for the Lowrance.
I will put a Marine Plywood floor just on the bottom ribs. I am not sure yet if I want to carpet it or use the non slip coating on the inside. I'll decide that over the winter when I am ready for it.
SO, I have my winter project to keep me busy. Looking forward to using it this spring on the Susky before the lakes thaw. I guess this is my way of beating Cabin Fever.
I'll post pics as I work on it.

    Re: My River Boat... (Sinkobaits)

    UPDATE....

Today I snaked the wires for the sonar from the back of the boat to the bow. All nice and out of the way, too. I sodered the power cable to the extension wires and wrapped them.
My 4 AWG wire came later today and I snaked that too back to front. That wire is hard to work with. ANYWAY, that is done.
Tomorrow I might go fishing with Eddie (King Custom Rods)???? If not, I wll put the 50 AMP breaker inline and make the jumper for the 2 - 12volt batteries to get my 24v for the T/M.
    That's all for now...

    Re: My River Boat... (racefan)

    Thanks Scott....

I need a trolling motor. If you hear of anything out that way, keep me in mind. I'd like a Bow Mount, Hand operated, 24V, 70+ lbs thrust.
I think the hand operated one will be better as I see the guys wuth the foot controlled T/Ms struggle on the river with the current.

Looking forward to meeting the "ERIE" crew next year. Joe has told me alot about all of you...and I already met Vince Well ya know.

You are welcome anytime to come with me. I sure am looking forward to it's completion so I can use it. I think it will be spring tho before it hits the water. Stop over and bring your daughter who wants to make her own worms.... No problem.

    Re: (Sinkobaits)

    Boat looks great Tim!!

You need a GOOD river anchor and I can make one for you! If you get a discount at your store let me know. If not I'll get the material and hook you up.

I wouldn't go making the boat too heavy. That river gets shallow and if you ever decide to get a jet bet to keep her as "skinny" as possible

Also you might not need such a big TM. I think a 12V 55lb would work fine but I fish the river a litle different. Most of the time, depending on current, I'll just drift the holes or a certain streatch. Seems to work good but I'm no river fisherman by any means.

Get some insight from basser Jim as he fishes those rivers out his way all the time.
