2010 PVA Bass Tournament Location Change

Boat Partners and gambler4 aka "The Cripple Crippler" we have a location change for the 2010 Mid-America "OKIE OPEN" Bass Tournament. We will be on Fort Gibson Lake in Wagoner, OK. The dates are the same, September 24-26, 2010.

Right now we are doing everything at the Tulakogee Conference Center. I need your thoughts on where we should launch and if there are hotels in the area that are boater friendly. I will be heading out there for a site visit in early November and would like to look at all my options.

    Thanks for your help.

Re: 2010 PVA Bass Tournament Location Change (PVABassTour)

taylors ferry north would be the launch ramp it is 4 boats wide and decent parking, there is a small (pavilion) you could weigh in at . there is a old hotel on the hiway right outside of the park http://indianlodge.net/. there is a days inn hotel in wagoner less than a 10 mile drive to the ramp that are set up for boats .http://www.daysinn.com/DaysInn/contr...earch-Days_Inn. or the state park just across the lake has http://www.shopoklahoma.com/westernh.htm i looked up the conference center and it seems to be close to the whitehorn cove area. it will be a long drive to taylors ferry and i dont see that they have a ramp at the campgrounds whitehorn cove has a ramp and some nice facitilities they have some tournaments out of there. when you are coming down let me know and i can help get you out there or take you for a ride email me @ gambler4 @tds.net and i can help you with some more stuff.

The only thing bad about Gibson is there is NO Where with a Boat Ramp like the one at Keystone.

Re: 2010 PVA Bass Tournament Location Change (PVABassTour)

how many boats y'all expecting??? does everyone have to launch at 1 site?
Whitehorn has 2 ramps (3 lanes) but you'd need to make arrangements wth the resort as they keep one of them closed most of the time. The public ramp is 2 lanes and the other is 1. There are no hotels out here.
does Tulakogee have housing? might be worth checking in to. I believe they do but not positive.
Whitehorn has a resturaunt and campground. however most of the rv spots are annual rentals.
Rocky point is 4 miles and they have tons of camp spots. Should be a bunch available that weekend. 2 loading ramps located there also.
Wagoner has 2 hotels in town, days inn and sleepy traveler.
There is the indian lodge (previously mentioned) out by taylors ferry and the lodge at western hills. Taylors ferry also has some lodging.
Whitehorn is by far the closest to tulakegee. It is a very nice place and they have had many tournaments out of there. I used to manage it 20 years ago and we had tournaments nearly every weekend during the season.

y'all have any questions just ask, shoot me an IM if ya want to. If i dont know i can find out for you. ive lived on gibson for 25 years.

The place I always stay at Ft Gibson is the Sleepy Traveler in Wagoner. Cheap, clean rooms with lots of room for boat parking that are only a few miles from the lake. Great lake! I wish it wasn't a 3 hour drive away!!

Re: 2010 PVA Bass Tournament Location Change (lakefolk)

Thank you all for the great information. The Camp has housing to accommodate most of the anglers but I always want to have options. They said there is a ramp there on the camp but I will have to see it to decide if it is a true ramp, most likely not. I will keep you all posted on any information that I gather from my site visit and might take up the offer from the "Cripple Crippler" and go for one of his famous "Boat Rides" around the lake.

Thanks again and keep the thoughts and ideas coming!! The more the better prepared I will be for making decisions.

Re: 2010 PVA Bass Tournament Location Change (PVABassTour)

i might just have to go over there and see the ramp, cant remember even seeing it from the water. it might be something added since ive been over there. its been quite a while.. I live about 3 miles from there. I also know theyve done a lot of work there over the years.

if i can be of any help what so ever just holler, like i said its not far at all..

when you come here give me a shout, it would be cool to meet up..

After losing his nerve as an aggressive boat driver, Mike "Cripple Crippler" Money hires Spoonbill to do his dirty work.
