model # E175FSLSI year 2001 serial # G04910655 the last time i went fishing just as i got on plane the check engine horn and light went off. it did not seem proformance wie to run any different. it ran fine the day before the only thing i put sea foam in my gas. would that make any difference?
On my engine the check engine light means you have a fuel restriction. I had to take out that POS anti-syphon valve, and haven't had a problem since.
You will find that in the neck of the fuel tank, at least that is where it was on my boat.
You need to check you fuel system and find your restriction.

On the Ficht / DI engines, a check engine light could be one of about 40 different service codes.
That the engine didn't go into S.L.O.W. (self-protect mode) means that whatever it is, isn't a "critical" problem. But, don't ignore it before it becomes one.
It could be as simple as water in the fuel and the filter needs changing.
Have your dealer check what service codes have been set.

Illini Johnny is correct. Your FICHT engine is nothing like a carbureted motor that Lockjaw posted about.
The more common problems with a CHECK ENGINE light are water in the fuel, sticking shift interupter switch, TPS out of spec, and low battery voltage. You can easily check for water in the filter, but if the light continues, then see a dealer.
