Pops out of gear.

My 69' Evinrude 18HP Fastwin has started to pop out of gear under load (even light load). Is this just a simple adjustment or is something wearing out? I did check the adjustment of the shift cable and it is pulling it all the way into gear.

39 years and maybe something is finally wearing out..............Wonder why anybody would want to buy that brand..........

The clutch dog and forward gear in the lower unit are most likely worn out.

Thanks Sportwin, I made an adjustment to the engine shift lever and it seems to work OK now. Hopefully it will make it to the end of the season and I can pull it apart this winter. I assume the parts are still available.
