Warriors On The Water Tournament Comments!

First thing I want to thank David Blanton and Kevin Matthews for helping me get into this great event for our fighting men and women. I got to say that if you thought about going fishing this past week and could have taken off from the job you sure should have made this Tournament. Along with the tournament there is the Ice Breaker which I have found out seems to be an important part of the Tournament. Didn't make that this year but will make it nest year for sure. Met a real nice Air Force Load Master from Pope Air Force Base would like to make up the unlucky day we had and let him know and contact info.

Right now David I don't know a thing. I left the weigh-in and ran straight to the tech to leave for him to see what the problem might be. I really hate I had this problem at this time sure would like to have got some fish for my co-angler Kevin Mathews an Air Force loadmaster from Pope Air Force Base. I left word with him to call in the future when he might be able to make a trip back to Jordan to make up for the louse time I provided him. I want to thank you also for getting me a soldier co-angler. I'll be at the Ice Breaker next year for sure.

As usual the tournament was ran very well. The entire staff at WOW The only thing I would change is putting fewer bags out. The line was a bit too long for a hot day, lost one fish while standing in line. I don't think this was a problem in previous years because of the 16" limit. Other than that great job. I had a great partner Jesse Allen. He is from Alabama, currently stationed at Ft. Bragg. About to take a 1 year deployment to Afganistan. Our prayers are with him and all of our soldiers. By the way Jesse put our largest keeper in the boat and with 5 minutes to go in the tourney he had a fish on that may have won him the boat. She shook off halfway to the boat. This is always one of my favorite tourneys to fish. If you haven't had the opportunity to participate in this event I would encourage you to do so.

If you need for me to have a talk with David about how this thing was run I'll be happy to bend his ear for ya Great job once again David and I look forward to fishing it again next year. I wish I could go ahead and register for it right now, but I'll give you guys a few weeks break so you can rest up.

Bassranger1, David might want to do what I had seen other tournaments do. Have 2 or 3 big tanks full of aerated water that is treated with fish saver cemicals. That seems to help keep fish alive through the weigh in proccess.

Uhhmm they had those, he is referencing a lack of "official" weigh in bags. They done a good job with the weigh in to me.

I was just yanking Will's chain a little. My attempt at humor must have gotten lost(just like my fish) Like Will would need me to do any talking to Mr. Blanton

I also think the weigh-in went well. I let my soilder do all the work. He handled it like a pro.

Thats what I done, he carried them up on the stage and stole the show. He must have done a good job, the fayetteville observer quoted him and myself in their article about the tourny (we did use dynamite but was unsuccessful).

I agree with Will about the bags. In the BFLs they only put out about 30 or 40 official bags and thats what you have to use. The line at the scales is usually pretty short too. Friday I probably stood in line for 20-30 minutes.

We have already discussed the bag issue and a couple of other things for next year. We always welcome suggestions to help improve what we do.

Dave, not sure what the process is to secure a few more bags for your event. But, I'd be willing to donate a few new bags if that would help resolve this issue..

We have plenty of bags, the problem was to many being put out and to many people with fish having to wait to weigh-in. We also need to make sure the scales are ready and open before we put bags out.

Re: Warriors On The Water Tournament Comments! (dk239)

David just a suggestion. With the Federation they use 2 or 3 big tanks, like the water tanks on a cattle farm, use a water pump system to fill the tanks with lake water and have aerators in each tank. As the fishermen & women line up for weigh-in they keep their bagged fish in the tanks as they move to the scales. With the type of tournament being helpd Tractor Supply, Lowe's, Home Depot, might contribute the tanks as advertisement with their logos on the tanks who knows.
