Circuit breaker post extension mount... what material?

    Hey guys and gals,

In west TN, I run a 2018 Basscat - it has a piece of metal with holes drilled for the "+" mounting post and the input post on the circuit breaker.

It's somewhat like the below plate - albeit with a different breaker.

If I was going to make one of these for my Ranger, what kind of metal should I make it out of? Is there ready-made stock at HD or Lowe's?

The material in the photo appears to be brass, about 16 gauge in thickness.

You can accomplish the same thing with a short piece of 8ga cable and two ring terminals. Safer too due to less exposed conductive material.

I would use copper or brass. You can make a tab out of a piece of soft copper pipe. Cut it to length and flatten with a hammer, then drill the holes in it.

That would work, but you would have a lot of exposed metal for a potential short if something was to ground against it. I would put a piece of shrink wrap on it and only expose enough to attach it. And I would do at least two if not three layers.
