    Trim/tilt operated on its own??

I had posted this previously on the general board but thought it might be a good idea to post it here. Back in June my (trim and tilt) on my 2004 Evinrude 225 HO on a 2004 Ranger 520 VX strangely began to operate on its own. The boat was moored, all switches and breakers off, and the trim operated both up and down for no apparent reason. It did this several times until I simply had to disconnect everything at the battery until ready to use it. I changed the cowl trim switch and both relays and the problem has not repeated. Hope this might help someone else. Has anyone ever had this problem?

Sounds like one of the switches shorted. A lot of rain? sometimes this can cause the problem if you have broken boot around switch.

Thanks for the info, Like Mike said more than likely bad switch on the cowl. Your relays should still be good for spares if you still have them.
