Sure can, that's what I run in my motor the XD-50. I can't cost justify XD-100 to my self on a carb motor. If I was running a DFI or E-tec I sure would have the 100 in there though.

I just bought a gallon of the 100, gonna try it out when mine gets low on the Pennzoil. They were out of XD50.

Mine does real well on the oil. I bet I don't use more then about 3 or 4 gallons a year. I can swing the good stuff at that rate.

I guess when gas gets to be 43.99 a gallon then I can complain.

I always stick with the brand oil the manufacturer recommends, they are the only ones that know the metal composition that was used to make their outboards and certain materials will like certain additives. I always used Quicksilver in my Mercs and never had any problems with them, I used Honda oil for my Honda 4-stroke and now use XP-50 for my Evinrude.

what more do you need a letter from Roch Lambert' from BRP? I've been turning wrenches on these guys since 1969 and the BRP oils are the best oils hands down. Kind of tipped your hand as BRP hasn't had a carbed motor since 2001, but Merc is still pushing the XR-6 as new. If you prefer then use Quick silver premium plus. That is a blend.

Mine was smoking pretty bad on the old Johnson oil and since I started using xd-50 it does not smoke at all.
