    Taylorsville nc help

Going up to Taylorsville for a couple days. Have a few hours to kill so i thought about taking my special needs son fishing. He is not very mobil at all so i am thinking of a creek or river. Thought about the new, but it looks to be about an hour or so from Taylorsville. Never been to this section of the state so any info will help. Thanks again to the bbc gang for any help.

I wish I could help you. I know nothing of that area. Don't know where you're from, but if you're anywhere near Salisbury, I can help with a place.

There are a couple public parks on lake hickory you can fish. I know of some on the upper end. I'm not sure about the taylorsville end. Taylorsville beach marina might have a place you can fish. Take some worms and crickets and he can catch a lot of bream.

Thanks for the suggestions, i may take him to the new and just wade fish. Sit him in a intertube with a rope on it and let him have some fun.

We ended up fishing at the oxford dam and the park. Caught 2 nice largemouths and that was it. My son really loved the water coming over the dam. We went up highway 16 and fished a creek that was hatchery supported and caught 3 rainbows and it was a really awesome stream. It was not a friendly stream for him, he does not get around at all very well but we did manage the best we could. I think he had a great time he is also non verbal and it is hard to tell but i feel he had fun and that is what matters. Was going to take him to the new, we went by zoolos or something like that and there were about 7 thousand canoes in the river so we abandoned the new and headed back.

Glad you had a good trip. That trout stream is only about 5 minutes from my house.
