The fun of brakes and hubs.

Ordered all the parts to do bearings while boat was still in storage. They place I went was super helpful on getting me what I needed for a 2003 marine master trailer.

Fast forward - The seals were the wrong size, so many trips to find those locally. One brake hub was toasted at some point, and the rotor trashed.

Marine master VIN was taking me to a UFP DB35 parts list. Well turns out the brake setup is a DB42.

So $400 later I finally have everything back in good shape.

I love my 03 TR20 but man does she give me some headaches some days.

To be fair I find a lot of Triton owners hold their boats/trailers a lot longer than some other brands. So yeah maintenance on anything 15-25 years old isn’t gonna be the time of our lives but I can assure you it’s better than making a payment.

I got it used a couple years ago, and shouldn't be so bad moving forward now that I have a list of current part numbers that are needed.

I can relate to your pain. I have a 2004 TR196 with Marine Master tandem axle trailer. I was having some issues with the UFP oil bath hubs and decided to convert over to grease. Got all the parts I needed i.e., new bearings, seals grease caps and even replaced the pressed on wear sleeves that are on the spindles. Took the boat on a 1500 mile round trip this spring and found two of my four hubs were leaking grease from the rear seals. I make 100% sure to not over grease the hubs and pressurize them to the point where the rear seals would be compromised. Not sure why two of the four are leaking. So I have more seals on the way and will try to replace them and see what happens. It has been a real PITA dealing with this. But I agree with Chizler62.........I'd rather have this headache vs making payments on a boat with today's prices.
