When I have something listed on Marketplace, I sometimes see a "1" inside a red circle on the Marketplace icon just like if you have PM's or notifications. I assume I have a message or something but how do I open it? I'm getting messages and the red symbol doesn't go away after I read and reply. I even went so far as to ask the wife and she didn't know either.
i don't have anything listed but i believe you can go to marketplace and there is a bar to the left (drop-down) menu and look at you account it should explain most activity, i think messages still show as a "new message" at the top of your FB page

It's to keep you overly interested in Facebook spending more time on there and constantly opening your Facebook account, so as they can pad their members time and usage....
