New 225 HO break in suggestions

    Guys:

My 05 DI has gone to that proverbial scrapyard in the sky. Bit the bullet and have a shiny brand new 225 HO e-tec enroute. couple of questions/suggestions - I know BRP says you can run it right out of the box, but that makes me extremely nervous. So:

-what procedure would you use from the getgo? Vary the rpm, and don't run hard
    - planning on only xd100
    - I understand there is only variable oiling rates now - no synthetic vs tcw3
    - fuel additives:
Ring free vs carbon guard - do you need these with xd100?
    Seafoam vs. Stabil Marine
Startron( from starbrite) - for the increasing ethanol content
-is there a need to add an additional water seperator inline due to ethanol as well?

Since I am essentailly starting over, I'd like to get the break in correct, and the fueling/additive process figuered out right from the start.

    thanx

Put some XD100 and gas in it, and let her rip. Just like BRP says.

Re: New 225 HO break in suggestions (LSUZ)

My first one I babied....Ran it the first two hours soft, 3500-4500 for the first hour, 4500-5000 the second hour, no WOT, not holding any steady rpm. My second Etec, well, I just let it rip. I didn't run WOT or hold any sustained high speeds for the first few hours, but I sure didn't baby it either...

Re: New 225 HO break in suggestions (AB)

I always run them on the muffs no matter E-tec or Carbed or DFI first hour 1500-2000, then next hour 2,000-3,000 varying R's next 6 hour 3,000-4,000 with burst to 5,800. I just do this to seat the rings. E-tec I would suggest TCW-3 with XD-50 for Break-in and once done run XD-100.
