1994 Stratos 285 PRO XL

I just got a 1994 Staretos 285 PRO XL and everything woks ok BUT I am curios on my timer for my recylcing live wells. If anyone can give me some insite on how they work it would be greatly appreciated. Ther are two live wells that both fill when i hit the switch which is fine. At the front of the boat there are two switches for the live wells with a timer switch. On the timer switch there is a 2 at the top, and a 4 in the middle and a 6 at the bottom. I am lead to believe that they are min. BUT HOW CAN I GET THEM TO WORK PROPERLY

This is just a guess.
Fill the livewells with the switch on the console.Then turn it off.
Then turn the front switch at 2 and see if the timer kicks in,if it is working,it should.
It should be 1 min on 2 min off,1 min on 4 min. off,1 min on 6 min. off.
This is just a guess as I don't know chit about Stratos

I have a 1995 278 with the same switches you have. The front switches work the timers have never worked since I have owned it. What I do is turn the front switches to manual and the switches on the dash to on. Then when I want to shut them off from the front i switch them from the front pannel to auto shutting them off till I want to put them on again. The wells are recurculator type and i have never had any problems with lost fish. If I am fishing a smallmouth tourney in dead summer I will leave them on all day. NO problem> Any other tourney I use them as nessesary.
