    200 ho trim

When i trim my 200 ho down it jumps so bad i think it is going to jump off the boat. The jumping only happens when on the tilt cylinder not on the trim cylinder.Everything works fine on the way up. Tried bleedind the system but no change. Anyone else had this problem.

Check the fluid level first, then deploy the motor bracket trim down to it and then just barely crack open the reservoir cap, tighten and trim up and release the bracket. Open the manual release screw and try and re-bleed it. You may have to do this a couple times.

Are you coming down off the tilt piston when under power? Mine does the same thing if I have the motor in gear - just drop into neutral and coast till you hit the trim pistons.

Mine does the same thing. I called my dealer and he said thats normal for my engine. If its been trimmed up for a long time that it will seem like there is air in the lines when trimming back down. That doesn't seem right to me but I am not the mechanic

Like I said just crack the cap open and see if burping it helps, I've fixed a few this way.

Thanks for the information but my motor will jump sitting in the yard not running. I tried bleeding the system again last night but no change. If i tilt the motor all the way up and then let it down it works fine.

Grease the pivot points very well and smear some on the trim and tilt rams.

Tighten the tilt tube nut about 1/6th turn at a time until the bouncing gets less or goes away.

Re: 200 ho trim (phil defosse)

hey phil mine also does the same thing bad. It made my trim motor go out once already and had to get a new one installed. So now I just keep spraying oil after every trip on the trim shaft and that seems to help alot.
