I was up there last weekend and didn't see any dead shad. A friend fished it yesterday and said that the water temp was 49.

Have not seen any dead shad but seen several struggling near the surface. Be careful running thru yellow the fog of birds will deposit you some digested shad on and or your boat. I know a fellow that had ithappen.

What Alan said....they been struggling on the top for at least a month now, but it hasn't been cold enough. Water temps been hanging in the high 40's to the 50 degree mark for a long time. Until the temps drop on down into the mid to low 40's.....I don't see us having a shad kill this year.

    Re: (colreb2000)

Fished Yellow Creek Tuesday. Saw several shad crippling and a very few dead ones on one bank. Water was pretty murky up toward Goat island. Clearer toward river but still pretty stained. We didn't do much good. Water averaged 49 degrees when we put in but as sun got high saw some 52-53 degree readings. I don't know why any shad would be dying water has been in high 40's all winter, Defintely not a major shad kill A friend of mine had a good day down toward the dam on Tuesday. He has been killing them on the A rig. I fished it for the first time Had one fish on but lost it. I have a lot to learn about fishing it.

Water looks to be 415 Saturday bet you can run all the way to the railroad tracks as long as you have a good idea where the old creek is. But bear creek can be kinda scary to those that don't know it.
