Tell your buddy to give you the model number or you should read rule #1. And please turn off your caps, in the WWW world it means you are screaming.
I just rebuilt my 1990 175XP and after I fired it up and ran it there was a slight miss. I found that one of my coils was shorting out after warm up and a load was put on it. I am not saying this is probably the problem but it might be worth checking.

I had a high speed miss on my 89 XP150 that was just like shutting the key off for a split second. It only happened at full throttle. It ended up being my powerpack.
