    low voltage

    my 89 xp150 will not produce voltage over 11.8 when running my trim is also sluggish and you have to hit the button twice i posted yesterday about that i wonder if these things are related help

    Certainly they could be related. Try this charge your cranking batt fully and operate the trim, if it's hot and operates fast as it's supposed to, then you may have a charging system problem on board. It usually takes a lot of juice to crank the non injected motors because they don't usually start on the first crank and require several trys. If the trim system operates slow after charging then you A. have a bad battery, B. poor connections to the battery or C. perhaps the trim motor is saying good bye.........Having a voltage reading of 11.8 while idling and operating the trim in and of itself doesn't sound suspect, does the volt meter go up to like 14 at wide open throttle, it should...............?

    thanx for your repley no the voltage does not come up i never see above 12.0 runnning batts and connections are good i think i solved my trim problem replacing a connector on one of the releys still have low voltage

    Connect a multimeter between the battery posts idleing with water of course! If the volts rise up into the 13's your charging system is working, If not the rectifier/regulator could be going out.

    meter volts read the same as gps/sonar volts 11.9 max thanx for your help i think ill try a rectifier i will post how it worked out
