Is my motor 24v or 36v

I bought a used boat that has a fortrex on it now! Is there a way to tell if it’s 24v or 36v? The sticker is missing on the head! It’s wired for 24v now but when I bought it there was a extra wire laying in bilge area that looked like it might have been wired 36v in the past

Found sticker under the pedal! Looks like it’s a 36v! I wonder why they wired it 24v

Maybe could not afford a 3rd battery? Motor will run way better on 36!

It is a 36 volt motor. The largest 24 volt Minn Kota is 80 lb thrust.

Well, that's a 36v motor. How old is your boat ? I t may have originally been wired for a 12/24v motor. You would have a Red, Black, White, and Orange wires, and 2 40 amp breakers. Some have used the starting battery in the mix to get 36v. Use a meter and check the voltage at the female plug at the bow. Then we/I/someone can guide you from there.

Some of the older Tritons were wired for 12/24V trolling motor using a 3 prong plug. Since 12/24 didn't exist, I'm guessing that when the Fortrex was installed then the installer only used two of the wires. The 101 on the sticker tells us it is a 36V motor. Simply add a battery, connect the positive that is on your battery 2 (positive going to trolling motor or breaker) to positive battery 3, then add a jumper from negative battery 3 to positive battery 2 and you'll be good to go.
