    Networking 4 Chartplotters and Livescope

    How is this done?

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I see pros with 4 to 5 chartplotters on their boats, but are all of them networked together? The black boxes only have 3 ports. So are the black boxes daisy chained, or are the some plotters "standalone" for a specific purpose, i.e., Livescope?

I am no expert but I am having Garmin installed next week on my boat. 4 graphs and a livescope. Since the ultra units have two network connector each the plan is to route network cable from Console 1 into Console 2. Out of console 2 into Bow 1. Out of Bow 1 into Bow 2. Out of Bow 2 into Livescope Box.

No network hub involved. At least that is what I was told by the folks installing it.

Oh, I see. The black box is only a signal conversion box with networking capability. If the plotter can already interpret the signal, all I need is the network expander.

Also depending what units, the larger units have 2 network ports on them.
