Question about repowering for the mods....

A friend as well as I re-powered with E-tecs. he had a 2000 di 200 and I had an 04 225HO. He now has an 08 225HO and I have an 08 250HO. He just lost the powerhead on the 225HO, the mechanic is telling him that the fuel system was not adequate enough for the 225HO E-tec and the engine went lean, WTH? I need to know or have some assurance that the 04 fuel system that came with my 04 225HO is or is not adequate for my new 250HO. I only have 20 hrs. on the engine and don't want to have a problem...Thank you in advance.....G

I ain't heard that one yet but there is a first time for everything. As long as he has a 3/8" ID hose going from the tank to the motor he should have been fine unless there was some kind of puncture in the fuel line.

Hey Garfish, this is off your subject, but......what kind of performance gain did you get going from the 225HO to the 250HO? Top end speed, gas mileage, and holeshot? Would you do it again? And if you don't mind me asking, what did you pay to upgrade to the 250HO? I'm assuming you traded in the 225HO?
I also have an '04 225HO and was thinking of upgrading, but not sure if it would be worth the expense.

    Thanks alot, Brad

Re: Question about repowering for the mods.... (wiggle)

Brad without bending your ear too much, I only have about 20hrs since 12/13/07. I haven't run it enough to accumulate any consumption estimates, however I wouldn't call it a guzzler. The power is considerably more than the 225HO-di. But weather factors ( bad and high winds) when I want to go test props and the fact that my Detwiler has died and I can't adjust on the water, leaves me to tell you that I haven't tapped the power all around. The highest speed was 79.1 the day the motor was fitted and that was at about 57-5800 rpm with a 27 TXP with PVS holes I had to pamper to get on plane. The best all around fishing prop has been a Mark prepared 27 BravoI. I have run 76 with 2 on board and fishing load. I am hoping to get to do some more testing soon as I get the Detwiler off and can send it in. I didn't trade I bought outright the day we discovered it was the motor and it couldn't be fixed for me to fish the TOP Six, hence the new motor. The 225HO received a new powerhead thanks to BRP and I am selling it to a young man from Tenn. I paid $18,600 including tax for it drivew out. I believe I probably had the first one that a non-Pro fisherman had at least in this state...had my motor been in working order book at the time was $8,000 out of warranty. But the new PH has what's left of a yr. fact. warranty and the remainder of my extended 3 yr. warr.
