    Fiberglass Repair - How to?

Looking for some tips to repair this fender. Someone backed into me and it cut all the way through the fender. Not looking for a perfect fix but would like it sealed up and strong enough to keep it together.

Fiberglass Boat Maintenance | WEST SYSTEM Epoxy

You will not get it perfect with the metal flake you have but an epoxy repair and then some kind of gel coat will make it strong and waterproof. You can skip the gel if you just want it strong. I had the same thing happen me earlier this year in a parking lot. No note. Luckily my fenders are mainly white gel coat. West System epoxy has become really expensive. There are other brands out there for a lot less.

If you want it perfect it will have to go to a shop.

sand a couple of inches on each side with 36 or 80 grit down to bare glass and lay a couple of layers of chop strand mat with polyester resin. Do the inside first. That's a 1k repair at a fiberglass shop since it involves 3 colors of flake. It costs near the same to order a new one as it does to repair most. I repair alot since many don't want to wait 6 weeks for a new one to come in.

I figured it would be a heck of a long shot to replace seeing its a 2003 trailer. I don't really care at this point if the gel matches with all the flake and 3 colors. Any recommendations on how to apply gel just to get it covered and sealed again?
