    VRO horn going off

I disconnected, and plugged off the VRO on a buddy's 90' model 150 x-flow, but the horn is still going off. Am I supposed to jump a couple of wires to make it stop or do you think it's something else? It runs great, and is not overheating. It starts going off as soon as you hit the gas.
    Thanks!

    Jason,
Follow the wire from the VRO pump to the connector and disconnect it also you have to follow the wire up from the tank and disconnect it also. You should also use the yellow plug and insert it into the oil line and ratchet clamp it so now damage is done to the Pump.

Thanks CM, I did all that, but this is the VRO2 pump with the 4-pin connector, does that make any difference?

Was the VRO bad or just being disconnected for some other reason? It could be a real alarm trying to stop power head damage.

If the horn sounds solid when you hit the gas, does it quit when you let off the gas?

You may have a fuel system restriction.

Re: VRO horn going off (RUSTY63)

Rusty, yes it does. And the VRO wasn't bad, he just wanted it gone, he'd rather premix for some reason. It does have a fuel restriction, it won't plane off without holding in the choke, I have to rebuild the carbs, but I didn't think the horn was going off because of that. I thought it had something to do with the VRO.

Re: VRO horn going off (champ150)

If it has a fuel restriction & he keeps running it expect a power head rebuild soon. Lean is VERY bad on a 2 stroke. Also, if he fills up with RFG be sure & use all of the premix up very fast. Oil does not stay mixed well in RFG.

No problem. Just make sure you communicate the danger his power head and pocket book is in.

    Probably "reformulated gas".
