    Re: Cabin Fever Tournament (ventben)

I've stayed away from there over last few years. Smallies any better? The fish kill few years ago didn't seem to help anything. I was hoping the fishing would get better with the little pressure the lake has had for 3 straight years. im not sure if it's the fact the site has no docks anymore or if the fishin just stinks. The catfish are thriving, but I don't do catfish.

    Re: (Gale1980)

I remember the days you had to wait half hour to get on the water with little to no parking. Not a prob anymore. That lake used to be awsome. And I remember when it had tons of huge walleye. I will prob be on the water this month as well. Any advice?

    Re: (Gale1980)

Last year the guys that won had 8 fish over 18 in. About half largemouth and half smallies. The year before I won and caught 5 smallies over 18 in. There is a real good year class of largemouth that should weigh over 5 lbs this year. Not as many fish anymore but the ones you do catch are big.

Miserable. 8 boats 0 keepers. We caught 4 bass and several junk fish. Quite a few guys said they lost good ones but no one landed one over 18 in.

    Re: Cabin Fever Tournament (ventben)

Thats amazing how poor Powerton has gotten, i can remember about 5-6 years ago how everyone was saying how good of a lake it was. It seemed like every year they would predict that the next state record smallie would come out there. I remember reading a article on Powerton years ago about the bass had very short life expectancies there, only 6-7 years, but the smallies grew very fast in there shorter lifes.
