How many ohms is the charge coils and stator suppose to read on a 89 gt150 J150stlcem? I have a seloc manual 73-91 and it don't have a schematic like my motor. Has anybody got any info on its ignition or can tell me where to buy a manual on this motor? Can you read the voltage coming back out of the stator with a Fluke 87? Where is the voltage supply to the stator come from and can it be checked to see if it is being fed? The power pack was changed on it before I purchased the boat Thanks mike
What is the issue with your motor?
I have no fire on any plug. I went through the stop circuit couldn't find a ground. Always had problems starting finally checked no fire after trying to crank for 20min fired up and ran rest of the day. After setting got ready to go again No firing. I haven't stayed in it to try to crank I have just been hitting it when I needed to to try to troubleshoot it. It does have the 35 amp system and Had a power pack installed when I purchased the boat. I still think timer base.
If you understand this then try it, if not, get it to your dealer.
Disconnect the red plug and use a remote start switch with a spark tester and plugs out, spin the motor over, if you now have spark check the boat harness.
ok ,will try It . may be timer base, I checked it from some info I had and appeared to be ok. I have been gathering all I could to check everything I could with a ohm meter. A guy I work with does alot of them on the side. I have been waiting 2 weeks for a opening. I hope in a week or so if I haven't found it he will be caught up where he can get my boat in. Thanks
