Has anyone used an aftermarket coil on their 250 PROxs (non mercury) the price difference is huge I’m curious about the quality and what issues there may be if any. TYIA

If you want speed and handling get a 202 or 203. If you wanna give up a little bit of speed for overall fish ability and still really good handling and speed get a 198.

Replacing the transom bolts on my 04 198 one broke last trip out any suggestions on the job and or bolt length recommendations?
My 198 is max hp rated @225, just curious what would happen if it was replaced with a 250. The Mercury pro xs 225 and 250 have the same weight on their respective spec sheet.

I have an 04 198 champ and love it plenty of space handles rough water great, definitely to high on the price for the amount of hours on the outboard
Don't have any experience with the rods your asking about, I fish the Shimano crucial frog rod and it has held up to these mean ca delta fish just fine

Hard to beat a Champ if your looking for smooth ride especially in rough conditions. I love my 198. Best advice I can give is try to ride in as many as possible if your patient and do your homework...

More than happy with my 198
As far as fishing goes who knows, but for looks it depends on your color scheme IMO I've seen black bottom champs that look badass and the same for white bottom.
