Thanks Scuirius. I will need to pay more attention to diagnostic info (SNR .. EPE) when I am having issues. I never noticed much location variability till recently .. so never needed to.

Had to laugh at myself over "what is P1?" Wasn't even thinking of Point 1. Thought is was technical jargon like EPE and SNR hidden on some diagnostics page on the Carbons.

I will try comparing...

Isn't screenshot #2 in post #28 what you are looking for? Or are you referring to something else? This is the only thing I can find.

Both Carbons are setup like this .. connected by NMEA...

I will check GPS source again. I never use auto .. but with all the switching back and forth from internal GPS and Point 1 plus soft resets .. I may have overlooked it.

I considered that so put them on a different boat with fully functioning nmea and point 1. Had the same results.

OK. I will repeat testing with iGPS setting on console unit and then disconnecting Point 1.

Just tried again in driveway with bow unit GPS source set on internal and heading on Point 1. Still looked like an etch-a-sketch drawing and danced continuously.

Point 1 does show under device list and I do have it selected in data sources for both heading and GPS. Bare bones setup. 2 Carbons w/ Point 1 on NMEA 2000 only. No Ethernet. No other accessories.
