Had the same problem with cx21 when I first got it.
My Solution:
1. Most important: moved one of the three trolling batts from port side to starboard to balance weight. Simple math: the factory...
Got mine from Nixon’s Marine too. Bought a stock boat earlier this year. Didn’t want to wait for build with times being uncertain. Willie is great to work with. If you haven’t already, have Blasé...
I wondered the same thing...but after buying a CX21, fishing it last spring and summer in some of the skinniest water I could find, I have zero issues with draft. Always fish with 2 people, loaded...
Yes, it was not Caymas plant’s fault. My dealer upgraded bow graph for me to a HDS 16 flush... they accidentally used the wrong wires. I switched bow graph to one of the clean power sets and...
Not yet. If it is so consistently coming out of the water due to high waves, I would find a better/calmer place on the lake to fish, or head for the ramp!
Question about using these specialty batts for trolling motor:
You’re fishing a tournament or a weekend trip somewhere, and these batts fail... (had it happen)... Does the nearest Walmart or...
47” shaft can be lowered all the way down pretty easily on the fly. I fish pretty rough open water, but fish in very shallow waters just as much. Not sure I would want the motor head 5” higher when...
Been running a 23.5 p Bravo1 FS on CX21... great prop for rough water/cruising and most waters I fish are usually rough. Ordered a 25 p Bravo1 FS for a little more top end, as well as 2 degree trim...
My boat came from the factory/dealer with the bow graph wired to the same “pads 3 amp” fuse instead of the clean power. When that fuse blew during a tournament, I lost bow graph power and live...
I think my Medallion 5 inch tachometer/digital gauge that seems to be standard on cx21 is not reading fuel level correctly. Always seems to read too high a percentage of fuel left. For instance, I...
Bought my boat from you guys at Nixon’s, but don’t get down that way often. Been running the 23.5 p Bravo1 you recommend... great prop for the CX21. Learning to drive it, just passed break in...
^^^^^^^^
all of this.
moved battery in mine and problem is all but gone. Boat is so $&#@ing sweet, I don’t even care about these little quirks and necessary fixes. Not sure I’ll ever buy a...
Hey Mr. Wolp..., been running the Bravo1 23.5p you recommended, love how it performs on the CX21. What kind of load are you running to get 74 mph on that prop? I saw 67-68mph on lake WA today...
It will walk, especially if the motor is too low. Gotta find the sweet spot like most boats. At least that’s how mine is.
Update: 5/1/2021 ran 23.5 Bravo1 FS on CX21 fully tournament loaded, 2 guys at 67.8 mph @ 6180 this seems to be the limit for this prop on my setup. Prop slip calc says about 13 percent. Played...
Probably. Merc Prop slip calculator is giving me about 15 percent. There is likely a better prop size in Bravo 1 FS for my setup, but I'm pretty happy with 23.5p so far. Plus at $800 bucks a hit,...
Does the chine walk feel more like a bow roll? More than a few of us have that type of walk rather than the side to side rocking chine walk. I am able to calm the bow roll type by raising the jack...
Update: was able to get the plate and trim right and boat speed tops out at 66 mph at 6050 rpm with Bravo 1 FS 23.5 pitch. Again, not the fastest prop, but the control, acceleration, lift and rough...
Caymas should put out some demo videos of Earl himself driving these boats and showing us the little tricks and subtleties to driving at optimum levels. Would go a long way toward building brand...
Anyone else run their numbers on Mercury prop selector on the Mercury website? I put in the following (from memory)
performance goal: top speed
entered in my motor info: year, make, model, etc....
I was fishing out of a Skeeter before Caymas. They are just great looking boats with features and touches that some boats (phoenix) don't have.
Thanks for info. I found in limited testing that my 21 likes to be at 7 to 8 on jack plate gauge at WOT with Fury 3 blade 24p as well. I had heard these boats like the Merc pro xs lower, but I'm...
Mercury Pro XS 4 stroke is 1 1/4” shaft. That is the prop size I use. Do yourself a favor and buy and extra hub kit. Makes changing prop a breeze.
What prop and pitch are you running now? Do you have a hydraulic jack plate? Also, look at the Bravo1 FS instead of XS. FS has only 4 pvs holes, XS has 8. Typically, you can plug all the holes...
I agree with this. Try Bravo 1 FS if boat is fully loaded, (gas, live wells, 2 guys, etc.) may not be the fastest prop, but it can be under certain load conditions I would think.
