was out looking at my wiring, right from factory 8-gauge wire for hummingbirds.

Some of the newer boats are using 6 gauge to fuse blocks then going down to 10 gauge to the units it also reduces heat builded up. Also to keep stead 12 volts.

From what i read and hear that 8 gauge would give you better flow in current.

Very good plan the only thing i would advise is wire size 8 gauge not 10.

This is what I did
Added another battery, ran it parallel with the starting battery
added 30-amp breaker, ran 8-gauge wire from stern to bow.
