My favorite songbird has to go to the painted bunting. Not common in Maine and it's not really in their range but I've seen maybe two during spring migrations mixed in with other flocks.

Yellowstone select is pretty pedestrian IMO which is fair for that price point. But I'll take a glass of hand picked any day for a sipper. The trouble is it's $65 for hand picked vs $35 for the select
Get excited about the most overhyped 2 minutes in sports? Nah, I'll pass.
I found that they also love fake Captain Crunch from Hannaford. A lot cheaper than oranges but I did find that it made them fat and lazy.
I believe you're mistaken. That's clearly a Catostomus commersonii or more commonly known as white sucker.
You guys must have a lot more of them than we do. I have two pairs in the yard and they're very peaceful little guys. Picked up a birdbath yesterday to put in the yard. Maybe that'll keep them from...
Wardens seized over $100,000 of stolen equipment from 300 boats, 243 motors and 100 trailers inspected at the tournament, they said.
It's a very weak article but it's pretty clear to me that they...
Glad to see they're doing something about it but I wonder if they'll get to the the actual thieves. At least some of the victims will get stuff back. Seems like the ones who really take it on the...
How many here agree with the Pats taking Maye with the 3rd pick? I was kinda hoping it would be Penix but we shall see how things work out.
I remember a time when Bears fans were soooo excited to land Fields. That didn't work out so well. A lot of people believe they ruined Fields--or at least caused a major setback in his development....
I'm still wondering what a crappie bed looks like. I've never heard of them fanning out a bed at all. See bluegill beds all the time. Maine pumpkinseeds usually make small beds around a foot across...
I have no problem IDing the males with their throat patch but I hesitate picking off the females because they look just like all the other little brown sparrows and finches. A trap seems like a major...
The great thing about bourbon is that tastes are subjective. I like Widow Jane, my bourbon buddy wouldn't take a bottle of you gave it to him. Generally you have to pay for a smooth pour but if you...
House sparrows? The loud chirpy guys that sometimes live in WalMarts and HD?
I've never heard of this problem with bluebirds. And you're sure the bluebirds are doing this? They must be over populated is all I can think. Bluebirds need places to perch so they take turns with...
Not that I don't like wrens but they're persistent little SOB's and I'd rather see bluebirds. I doubt you'll convince them to leave without using lethal means. The bigger question is: how do you know...
Just a side note about bluebirds. Everyone knows they like meal worms but I've found that in late fall they also love magnolia seeds, esp. the pink dwarf that we had up against the house. Don't know...
On beds? What do the beds look like? I thought they lay eggs on structure like rocks, logs, stumps, docks and also vegetation.
Heck, I signed one with my first job out of college earning 50 cents over minimum. Ran it by a lawyer first though. He said it was unenforceable given the nature of our work and they couldn't prevent...
Can't help you. I had a similar mystery in a lake that they drain every fall. On a sandbar normally in about 4' of water there were dozens of small beds maybe 8" across and most were touching. It...
This is a pretty major ruling by the FTC to invalidate almost all non-compete agreements. I can see the argument for them in order to protect proprietary methods and materials but it's been badly...
I've heard that some people even get on bass boat forums and complain about stuff. Can't verify it but that's what I heard
Maine is all price controlled by the state but the allocation issue is the main problem. I picked up a few Blanton's for around $50 this winter just because I was there at the right time. Got a...
You guys are way ahead of us. Due to moving and the late snowstorms, I didn't get a single house up until the evening of the 4/12. When I got up the next morning a pair of bluebirds had already...
