Know this is an old thread.....I've been fighting heat soak for year's, off and on.... time of year/ temps......so finally did the vapor separator/pump rebuild and they started selling pure fuel near...

whew tough crowd :) Lubed it up ( Abu reel oil) and seems to be workin now. No problems this morning ran like a Champ :).
Not one sneeze....yet. It's (motor) so quiet after running a 225 pro max...

Great the syndrome :)......did the throttle roller timing adjustment and that helped....as long as I pop it in gear and go.
If I let it set and idle I get a sneeze...pop it in gear and go runs...

Is there another way to do a sync and linkage adjustment without the OMC ignition Analyzer?
This is a fresh rebuild everything was reinstalled the way it came off.
I think I need to do a total...

so do I have any adjustment? Just want to fix this sneeze on restarts.

tried to adjust slow speed mixture as per manual.
no screws to adjust..... just a jet looking screw.
manual says to adjust slow speed mixture for a sneeze ( lean condition).

Ran ok yesterday.....maybe when I get to 50:1 oil ratio she will clear out .
by the way I mix oil in tank..... oil tank removed etc.

Starts good in AM runs a little rough then smooths out after 15-20 Sec. Then runs great...

Johnson 150 fast strike j150glera. Would like to remove wiring and plugs for vro oil system. Got about 3 plugs and wiring lying in the bottom of the cowling. Will never hook back up.
Any problem...

OK got it....someone knocked the key out during impellar install....DUH.

Same pump looked good and shot a good stream before....guess I'll drop the lower unit and check.
Could feel air pushing out.....just not water...does it take a while on fresh rebuild? I wouldn't...

Well it's rebuild time this winter. 28 years old and she's ready...sure ran good for being in such bad shape.
First 3 cylinder's he checked were scored. Got 4-5 months before spring time.

Gonna get a marine mech to look at it down here......talked to him yesterday, and he seems to think it could be coming from the lower unit.
After reading a few other posts in here that plug on #1 is...

Pulled the rectifier and don't see anything except for the top right hand corner, right under the rectifier and running down inside , but it almost looks like it's part of the casting and seems to be...

OK got it ( don't run it anymore) and found it (Rectifier) will pull in the AM.....guess Im looking for cracks down in there ? clean it and patch it.
Marine Tech putty gonna be fun finding that here...

no I don't think it's been rebuilt, just bought it this summer. I'll break out the manual and start reading ..

94 johnson 150 fast strike looks like model j150glera can't read serial #...has started ticking on idle and more of a rattle when running on plane at certain RPM's.
Checked #1 cylinder piston clean...
