Try adjusting the latches to apply more pressure on the rubber seals. Probably too loose! Easy diy job.

I always go 1 drill size larger when drilling into gelcoat and ALWAYS run the drill motor in reverse until you get past the gelcoat to keep from splintering.

You are fishing in a state with some of the best shallow water lakes in the country, if it were me I would not bother with FFS. Save your money and just go fishing!

I remember quite a few years ago when KVD put a big hole in his boat on the California Delta. I broke a lower unit off there as well. Not from stumps but submerged boats and trash!!
